Volunteerism

We love our volunteers!

Meals on Wheels volunteers are the heart and soul of our program. They do more than deliver meals door to door – they provide companionship, words of kindness and a smiling face. Many volunteers take a little time with each client and provide much needed conversation. Regular contact also ensures safety of our homebound seniors and helps them maintain independence in their homes with dignity. Volunteers at the kitchens in our congregate locations set tables, prepare meals, help serve and clean up after the meal – all with a friendly attitude and a smile.

Metro Meals on Wheels is continually looking for additional volunteers. Whether you only have a few hours one day per week or can volunteer every day, your assistance is needed. If you think you’d like to volunteer, visit the “Donate and Volunteer” location on this website and download an application.

If you are a current Meals on Wheels volunteer and have a story to share, please contact us – we want to hear what our volunteers are saying about their experiences. Your story could be printed in a future blog!

“Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain love for one another.”
