MARCH FOR MEALS 2026
Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026
Time: 10-11 a.m.
Location: Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park amphitheater (behind the Village at Meridian)
Join us for the largest March for Meals in the country, rain or shine!
One in six seniors in America faces hunger or food insecurity on a regular basis. That means more than 60,000 seniors in Idaho struggle with hunger. The free, annual “march” spotlights senior hunger and food insecurity, and how Meals on Wheels Metro Boise combats food insecurity and isolation in the Treasure Valley and beyond.
There is no entry fee to march. Meals on Wheels Metro Boise will receive a donation for each person present thanks to March for Meals sponsor Horizon Credit Union. "Marchers" with the most spirit (costume, noise, or enthusiasm) will also compete for Horizon's "Spirit Award." Additional sponsors include 101.5 KOOL FM and Shamrock Foods.
Bring your friends and family to March for Meals as we celebrate how Meals on Wheels provides nutritious meals, safety, and independence for thousands of seniors in our community!
Celebrating Meals on Wheels
Held every March in alignment with the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program anniversary, March for Meals began as a campaign to raise awareness and drive action, encouraging communities to support local Meals on Wheels providers through volunteering, donations, and advocacy.
Meals on Wheels Metro Boise delivers and serves more than 2,000 meals each weekday to homebound seniors throughout Ada County, Emmett, Middleton, McCall, and Caldwell. We also serve congregate meals in senior centers in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, Star, Marsing, and McCall as well as Northgate Senior Village and Samaritan Village in Boise.
The food is critical to the seniors, but Meals on Wheels is much more than a meal. 90% of seniors tell us that our program makes them feel more safe and secure, 81% say it improves their health, and 92% say it enables them to remain independent at home with their pets.

Donors celebrated March for Meals 2025 with a special “Match for Meals”
Meals on wheels Metro boise Donors Jennifer Dickey and Andrew Huang
Donors Jennifer Dickey and Andrew Huang offered a generous $10,000 match to benefit Meals on Wheels Metro Boise.
Jennifer and Andrew have been faithful supporters of Meals on Wheels Metro Boise, and Jennifer delivers meals to homebound seniors. “We’ve been aware of Meals on Wheels for decades, and while we understood the need in our community for this service, we didn’t know as much about the on-the-ground impact until a neighbor received meals,” stated Jennifer. “The meals allowed her to remain in her home, and sometimes the people delivering her meals were the only people she would see in a day. Meals on Wheels made an enormous difference in her quality of life.”
Donations made to Meals on Wheels Metro Boise in March 2025 were matched up to $10,000. The $20,000 match total provided 5,000 hot, nutritious meals for local homebound seniors.
“We are extremely grateful to Jennifer and Andrew for such incredible, impactful generosity,” emphasized Grant Jones, former CEO of Meals on Wheels Metro Boise. “This time of the year is traditionally a slower time for donations, and this match will have a huge effect on our fast-growing program.”
